Instrument Rentals
Instruments may be rented from the school for $60.00 per school year, plus one half of the cost of any repairs to the instrument.  Another option is renting an instrument from a music store (the school does business with Kephart's Music in Decorah).  This can be a good deal, as renting-to-own is always an option.
Fifth grade students who are interested in playing percussion will be required to rent or purchase bell kits, which are available through Kephart's.  (This is in addition to the $60/year rental fee since percussionists will be using school-owned instruments.)

Method Books
Method books are required for students to participate in band. This year we will be using Essential Elements 2000.  If you plan to rent an instrument from Kephart's, they do sell this book we will use as a package with your instrument.  If you will be renting from the school or if you have your own instrument, you will still need to purchase a method book, so feel free to contact me if you need any assistance.

Clarinet & Saxophone Players
Reeds for your instruments are available in my office, but I would like for you to take advantage of buying your own box of reeds.  They usually come in boxes of five or ten and are much cheaper when purchased that way.  Also, you always have extras in your case and don't have to wait all weekend if you find yourself needing an unchipped reed while practicing at home!
